Chic Storage Reveal

My latest project was a typical storage problem in a downtown Toronto condo. How do you maximize storage while maintaining a sophisticated look?

This condo owner needed additional storage for kitchen items such as large bowls and other pieces less often used.  We decided on this chic sideboard- sleek, contemporary, and perfect for modern condo living.  To add visual interest, I added some decorative pieces in reflective finishes and varying heights, seating, lighting, and wall art.

Balcony Reveal

When I left the house this morning wearing a light jacket and froze for the next 2 hours, I finally came to the realization that it’s officially the end of balcony season, and has been for a few weeks now (my sense of denial when it comes to the end of summer is rather strong).

I spent the end of August and early September finishing up on a balcony project in the FestivalTower condo in Toronto.  This 15' long East facing balcony is complete with a keg fridge, ambient night lighting and plenty of seating with custom upholstery; perfect for entertaining.  While it wasn’t completely ready before the end of this year’s hot summer weather, it’s now 100% finished and ready for an early start next spring!

Here are some shots of the final product:

An Apple a Day

[ apple center piece, via ]
One of my favourite things about fall (besides pumpkin pie) is apple picking season.  I used to head down to Chudleigh’s Apple Farm every year with my family.  We’d play in the hay maze and bring home bags and bags of the most delicious apples you will ever taste.  Now I’ve started up the tradition again, this time with friends.  We’ve discovered some other smaller local orchards and make a day out of it!

Here are some apple inspired décor and entertaining ideas for the fall season.

What side would you like with that?

[ sideboard via ]

My latest mission has been finding the perfect sideboard for a condo in downtown Toronto that needs additional storage off of the kitchen area.  I want something modern with clean lines to match the existing décor.  Here are some of my favorites.
Which one do you like?

It was a Good day

Yesterday was a very special day in the Good family.  We ‘officially’ added many new members to our family as my cousin Darryl married his beautiful bride, Christine at Graydon Hall Manor.  It was a day of beauty and perfection- everything from the dress and the bride herself, to the venue, the décor, and the special night all together to support the happy couple.

The Manor itself was something out of a dream.  Beautiful terraces, gardens, and fountains surrounded the 1936 Georgian Manor.  By night, candles lit the terrace creating an elegant and magical atmosphere.  The formal dining room was sophisticated and refined, full of character with ornate chandeliers and Georgian style décor to match the rest of the house.

I only cried about 6 times, and had to work really hard at not letting that number creep up into the double digits.  I couldn’t be more thrilled to have Christine in our family.  Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Tiki-Licious Color Inspiration

The past few weeks of nothing but record breaking heat waves have left me looking for refreshing drink ideas.  I found a bunch I’m dying to try from the LCBO Totally Tiki-Licious recipes online, and the colors are inspiring me for some summer projects.
